Antique Wooden Hand Painted Chinese Wall Tile
Several years ago one of our dealers found an old restaurant in China that was closing down and selling everything in the building.  Included in the sale were many of these old hand painted wall tiles.  He bought them ALL.  Then we bought them all from Him.
There are four different designs (see the others we have listed).  We call THIS one the "dragon & bird" design.
You'll notice we have some of these tiles listed that are NOT cleaned up.  Those are for clients who want them in AS FOUND condition.  But THIS tile is one that I DID (partially) clean up.
I didn't TOUCH the center portion with the dragons, but I DID clean the white border and give it a fresh coat (Rust-Oleum canvas color.....which is an off-white shade) of paint . These are very dirty and dusty when we get them and the borders are yellowed with age so cleaning up the borders is almost a MUST.    You COULD clean the painted corners if you do it carefully using a q-tip but most people prefer these in AS found condition so we don't touch that part and leave that for YOU to decide.
None of these are in "perfect" condition.  You have to remember that they're VERY old.  THIS one has some very fine white specks on it.  Who KNOWS how they got there.  But I mention AND picture it to be 100% accurate.
One can only IMAGINE the time it took to paint each one of these.  The tile you see is the EXACT tile you will receive.
This tile measures 17 7/8" x 17 7/8".  Very ornate with a dragon & a bird facing off.
